BARBASTELLE (from 2024)

Barbastelle’s 'Vestige Étésien' (Aut Records / 2025) is a logbook of sound, inspired by geological formations shaped by winds, currents, and time. Written over the last decade, these compositions find new light through the unique voice of the Barbastelle ensemble.
Barbastelle is a musical hybrid, blending the timbres of strings and woodwinds with impressionistic drumming, merging written chamber jazz with the spontaneity of free improvisation. Echoing Renaissance ‘broken consorts’ and the legacy of artists like Mal Waldron and Eric Dolphy, their music evokes Debussy, Bartok, and Takemitsu’s delicate sonic calligraphy. In 'Vestige Étésien', the ensemble explores a tranquil yet vibrant world, where polyphonic layers and free improvisation unfold like Etesian winds shaping the landscape. Paired with a film revealing the hidden world beneath flowing water, the project captures micro-events of time and sonic texture. Together, album and film offer a contemplative journey — an ode to transformation and the beauty of stillness and change. YIASEMI (from 2023)

Telle une plante qui pousse lentement à la confluence de deux ruisseaux, YIASEMI naît de la rencontre entre Julien Marga et Jordi Cassagne.
La musique de ce duo singulier invite l’auditeur à une contemplation de leur propre univers intérieur. Tantôt apaisante, tantôt tumultueuse, elle ravive les souvenirs d'enfance en convoquant des fresques d'un temps oublié, qui semble pouvoir s'étirer indéfiniment. On y retrouve les influences de Jakob Bro et de Charlie Haden, ainsi que des sonorités empruntées à la fois à la folk et au jazz chambriste. HARATAGO (from 2017)

Dans les montagnes souletines et plus particulièrement dans les Arbailles, les ancêtres, bergers, chantaient déjà ces chants liés à la nature, au monde sauvage… Les Basa Ahaide. Sans paroles, véritables calligraphies sonores, ils expriment le vol de l’aigle ou des chocards… mais aussi l’émerveillement et l’humilité de l’humain devant l’immensité de la nature. Les Basa Ahaide réclament du souffle, une force calme et profonde, de l’audace vers les cimes… pour que ces « chants longs », mélodies parmi les plus belles, prennent vie.

TERPSICHORE (from 2015)

Le leader pianiste et compositeur Geoffrey Fiorese a décidé de construire son projet en Quartet autour du mythe de Terpsichore, la muse de la danse. Le rapport créé, à travers la composition, entre musique et danse nous invite à recevoir un son, une mélodie, non pas par la simple écoute, mais par le prisme d’une perception globale, où le corps entier sert de réceptacle à l’harmonie sonore. Ce projet dépasse les frontières du jazz et amène ainsi progressivement l’auditeur vers des territoires inconnus où l’écoute résulte en un oubli de soi. JULIEN MARGA QUARTET (from 2016)

Julien Marga Quartet composé de jeunes talents de la scène belge et française et vainqueur des Trophées du Sunside 2016, déroule un jazz subtil, raffiné, un régal d'esthétisme, le jeu de Julien Marga n'est pas sans rappeler quelques illustres "guitar leaders" tels que Pat Metheny ou Bill Frisell.
Le récent album, "Hypnosis", sortie en octobre 2017 chez Igloo Circle, a été sectionné pour les Octaves de la Musique 2018 en Jazz, et fait l'objet de nombreuses diffusions radios en Belgique et France (France Musique, FIP, RTBF...) SOIR FOSSILE - violone solo (from 2021)

Une voix solitaire émerge du silence ; Le violone déploie lentement son feuillage ; Dans ce temps suspendu, son chant est une ode à la mémoire millénaire des arbres.
Jordi Cassagne fait vibrer le son boisé et profond du violone, qui est la contrebasse de la famille des violes de gambe, pour un répertoire ou le sombre s'illumine en envolées mélodiques. |

Le Bal de Marie Galante souffle l’insouciance, la légèreté, et les pas de côté ! L’ambiance sera facile et le bastringue gourmand.
Cinq doux fêlés s’envoient gaiement sur de chauds répertoires gorgés de caraïbes et nous emportent dans le vertige de la danse. Ils revisitent avec aise les grands classiques de la musique antillaise des années 30 aux années 70. L’horizon s’ensoleille, les hits déroulent façon façon, les voix chantent sans badiner, les solos brûlent la piste, les bassins s’animent et au gré des biguines, mazurka et autres kompas, on guinche, on s’enlace et on s’évade de la tête aux pieds ! NOUROOG (2019-2022)

Nouroog is an howling sound emerging from the forest. Nouroog is the roaring thunder and the silent conversation between trees.
Nouroog travelled along the roads of free jazz traced out by Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy and Steve Lacy. From this heritage, a more personal sound emerged, where minimalist chamber music meets improvisation. Limite - Mário Peixoto - 1931
An astonishing creation, Limite is the only feature by the Brazilian director and author Mário Peixoto, made when he was just twenty-two years old. This avant-garde silent masterpiece centers on a man and two women lost at sea, their pasts unfolding through flashbacks. An early work of independent Latin American film-making, Limite was famously difficult to see for most of the twentieth century. It is a pioneering achievement that continues to captivate with its timeless visual poetry. Utnuz and Omega Impact perform original music composed by Jordi Cassagne, a cross-national collaboration between musicians based in The Netherlands, Belgium and France, marking the 110th birthday of Mario Peixoto. These three inventive musicians bring a fresh approach to the art of a trio…
They have already travelled along the roads of free jazz traced out by Ornette Coleman, dug deep down into the African roots of Don Cherry and John Coltrane, embraced the soaring intensity of Daunik Lazro… sung the song of the eagles gliding in the skies, bringing a new insight to truly timeless Basque musical traditions… They give voice to skin, metal, cascabelle rattles and bells with the sure and melodious harmony of the greatest traditions of rhythm, the alchemy of Rachid Ali and Xenakis, the flamboyance of black sounds: skimmed, ricocheted, pounded and played to the core… Three circumvoluted spirals coiling and entwining within each musical moment… Dazzling themes, gathered and collected, are opened and projected within a magnificent surrealist universe that transforms them… wild Asian landscapes with a flavour of high mountains, the murmuring rustle of tropical rainforests, the crashing of waves, the song of lovers, a world drunk on the elation of twinkling stars, the heady seduction of spices, a certain je-ne-sais-quoi that, with their simple modesty, does not obstruct the enjoyment of lapping at the source and venturing down new roads… Roads where action and movement are expressed in a tribute to life.
